Happy New Year ... What's Old is New Again !!!

Sorry for the long delay in posting an update. But hopefully the good news contained in this posting will make up for the wait.

First, the Executive Board would like to thank Bob Williams and Bill & Linda Liedel for opening their homes and being such gracious hosts during December's Holiday Walk. Everyone had a great time!

Second, on Friday February 4th, the Executive Board submitted a petition to the Northville Township Department of Public Services requesting they schedule a Public Improvement Informational meeting regarding the repair of our roads. The submission of this petition, which was signed by over 30 homeowners, is but the first step towards repairing our streets. Our petition was accompanied by a letter that specifically requested the Township investigate and seek County approval for a repair procedure that is less costly than what was presented to homeowners two years ago.

We expect the Township will schedule this Informational meeting within the next 60 days. You will be notified directly by the Township of the exact date, and we will post signage around the neighborhood to alert homeowners of the event.

At this Informational meeting, the Township will report its preliminary findings, and homeowners will be afforded the opportunity to comment and have questions answered.

At the end of the meeting, the Township will decide if a majority of homeowners would support creating a Special Assessment District(SAD). If so, the Township will create a new petition for circulation, and we will have to solicit signatures from a majority of the residents who would be impacted by the project.

Rest assured, whether you agree with the creation of a SAD or not, you will have more than ample opportunity to voice your opinions and/or change your mind (Yea or Nay) before a final vote that involves making a financial commitment is ratified by the Township.

The new process for creating SAD has specific provisions built-in to ensure: (a)homeowners are well-informed before making any kind of financial decision; (b) have ample time to make an informed decision, and (c) can change their vote if they feel they have made a mistake.
